BELGIAN WAFFLES

 Belgian Waffles

Instead of reaching for frozen wafflesat the grocery store, next time you’re serving waffles use this easy homemade Belgian waffle recipe. You don’t need many ingredients for this recipe, and you probably already have them all on hand in your pantry. Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, all you have to do is whisk them together and use a ladle to spoon them into a preheated waffle maker. To make sure everything is evenly mixed, Test Kitchen Professional Ivy Odomrecommends mixing the egg and sugar together before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. If you’re feeding a crowd, you can keep the waffles warm in the oven on a sheet pan before serving. If you have leftovers, or just want to make your mornings easier, you can freeze the prepared waffles in a freezer zip-top bag for up to three weeks and reheat them in the toaster.
Ingredients
  • 1 large egg, beaten 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt 13/4 cup self rising flour 13/4 cup whole milk 3 tablespoon canola oil 1/4 cup plain yellow cornmeal

How to Make It

Whisk together all ingredients in a medium bowl. Ladle mixture into a preheated waffle iron and cook until crisp, about 4 minutes. Serve warm. (Can freeze in a freezer zip-top bag for up to 3 weeks. Reheat in toaster.)
