CHARLIES BLOODY MARY

Another blast from the past....

Charlie's Bloody Mary

1/2 cup Vodka
2 cups buzzed up fresh ripe tomatoes
1/4 cup grated onion
1 Jalapeño, chopped (or freeze wheels in ice cubes for a nice touch)
Juice of 1/4 lemon
3 or 4 fresh basil leaves
1/4 tsp.  cayenne pepper
1 rib celery, chopped
1 Tbsp. grated carrot
1 Tbsp. clove garlic
1/2 tsp dried, ground ginger
Black pepper
Kosher salt
A splash of habanero-infused vodka, if you've been clever this fall
Pinch of fresh oregano
1 Tbsp. horseradish
Dash Worcestershire sauce
Dash port

Combine all ingredients in a blender with 4 cubes of ice or so.  Blend.  Strain into ice-filled highball glasses rimmed with basil salt.  Serve with cucumber slices and cayenne flowers.

For basil salt:  blend a handful of fresh basil with 1/3 cup Kosher salt.
