MAKERS MARK BBQ SAUCE

Makers Mark BBQ Sauce

What to get
  • Your favorite prepared BBQ sauce
  • Maker's Mark Bourbon
SUGGESTED INGREDIENTS
  • Yellow mustard
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Red chili flakes
  • Caramelized onions
  • Roasted garlic
  • Brown sugar
  • Crispy cooked bacon
What to do
  1. Add 1 cup of your favorite ready made BBQ sauce to a bowl. Since you will be adding to the sauce, use about half as much as you think you will need.
  2. Add 2 shots of Maker’s Mark Bourbon and whisk it well.
  3. Add ingredients of your choosing until you have something you like.
  4. Store covered in the fridge for up to one week.
CHEF NEWMAN'S GO-TO INGREDIENTS ARE:
  1. ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  2. 2 big pinches red chili flake
  3. 1/3 cup yellow mustard
The bourbon does not cook out of this recipe.

This recipe contains full-strength Maker's®. For a family-friendly version, first simmer the bourbon until it's reduced to a syrupy texture and let cool. This will burn off the alcohol.
GETTING SAUCY

To soften the punch of raw onion and garlic when making sauces, combine both with canola oil in a foil pack. Bake at 350 degrees until soft and aromatic. Let cool and add to your sauce as needed.
