My earliest memory of figs are always connected to times at my grandparents home. They have a fig tree in their backyard that grows these beautiful fruits. After each fig season, the tree is stripped bare and many months pass before it comes back to life. In the spring the tree is back to full bloom and every branch is loaded with these little gems. This year my grandma and I anxiously waited untill they were ready to pick. When I was finally able to take home a bag full of figs I baked this fig mascarpone honey cake. These memories are what inspired this recipe.
